Sundsvall Fairway

The Sundsvall fairway project aims to improve safety, capacity, and accessibility in the fairways leading to Sundsvall’s port, paving the way for larger vessels, more efficient transport, and a sustainable future logistics system.

The project's objective is to ensure necessary safety margins in the fairway, meeting current and foreseeable future requirements for accessibility and navigability. Deepening the fairway will enhance access and safety for the growing maritime traffic. Additionally, strengthening and adjusting navigational aids will ensure good navigation conditions, increasing safety even in adverse weather and sea conditions.

The project covers the public fairways 650, 651, and 652, serving Sundsvall Port, Söråker Port, and Östrand Port.

Planned Measures

Dredging and reinforcement of navigational aids in fairways 651 and 650.
Supplementing navigational aids in fairway 652.

Timeline

Environmental assessments will be conducted in 2025.
Implementation is scheduled for 2027-2028.
