Requirements for available space at the quay: Upon arrival, there must be at least 15m of free quay fore and aft of the vessel. 

For vessels >160 m and or >30 m, a maximum of 14 m/s applies in average wind in fully loaded condition.
If the vessel is not fully loaded, 10 m/s applies.

*In the case of a fixed ice channel, deviations from these restrictions can be made in consultation with pilots and icebreakers.

 

The following vessels are limited by daylight, and a visibility of at least one nautical mile

In the case of a fixed ice channel, deviations from these restrictions can be made in consultation with pilots and icebreakers.

 

  • A working thruster can replace a tugboat. 

 

A tugboat is defined in this context, as a vessel built for towing and with a bollard pull of at least 20 tons. On arrivals where only one tugboat is required, it should be of the ASD type. When two tugs are required according to these restrictions, the total force shall be at least 50 tons of which one shall be of the ASD type. If three tugboats are required, the combined force shall be at least 90 tons bollard pull of which at least one shall be of the ASD type. Deviations from these criteria may be made in exceptional cases after consultation with the pilot.

 

For vessels with LOA > 200 m and or Beam > 30 m, two pilots are to be used.

With the exception of Skelleftehamn inner harbor where the boundaries are LOA > 160 m and or Beam > 28m.
